Sure, he had an assault rifle, he had handguns. He had to be ready to be robbed. He was dealing drugs and surrounded by scumbags.
Raided by police in LA, my July 9th Afflicted by Addiction guest, “Brian” was charged with 16 felony counts with intent to distribute and one count of unregistered handgun and was facing 20 years in jail. So off he went.
“All I did there was talk to people and learn better ways not to get caught.”
If you’re 23, you have a felony, you have knowledge about underground, it seems so easy to do, right? It’s way harder to break out of the criminal world and start a new life. He was a drug dealer. You already have the connections, and then you go to a training camp for criminals. “I found a mentor in jail. I said: ‘I’m going to do this smarter when I get out.’…I set goals for myself as to how to make more money when I got out of jail.”
He could never have forseen how he would turn out. He was not just a drug dealer, he ended up getting addicted to his product. Never would have guessed he’d become a desperate addict, sitting in his two car garage, two cars running, doors shut, cracks plugged with wet towels, hoping to die.
“Never thought I would end up how I became. I always thought I could handle. I would have taken that bet anytime.”
