MARIETTA – A proposal to place restrictions issuing business licenses to companies that dispense certain addictive prescription drugs moved closer to approval Wednesday, as it advanced out of the City Council’s Judicial/Legislative Committee.
Mayor Steve Tumlin said he looks forward to adopting an ordinance on the subject at the Council’s Jan. 12 meeting.
Earlier this month, a task force of local law enforcement and medical professionals released a list of recommendations on how Cobb’s six cities and county government should treat businesses that dispense addictive medications, such as Oxycontin.
The recommendations are designed to chill the desire for an illicit business to open here, said Marietta Police Chief Dan Flynn, who serves on the Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Prescription Drug Task Force. Read more:
